Mitchell Technical College Joins Flying Piston Benefit 2023 Tiny Bike Custom Chop Off

Sturgis, SD (July 13, 2023) – Flying Piston Benefit is thrilled to announce Mitchell Technical College is competing in the highly anticipated 2023 Tiny Bike Custom Chop Off. Mitchell Technical College is a leading technical training institute and one of the nation’s best-performing community colleges.

Mitchell Technical College has been delivering exceptional education since its opening in 1968, becoming an integral part of the statewide system of technical colleges. As part of this prestigious event, select Mitchell Tech students will showcase their talent by building a custom tiny bike.

The bike was built by 2nd year Mitchell Technical College Power Sports students. Gas tank was built by student Jacob Johnson of Spearfish, SD.

The project will commence with a standard Strider push bike generously provided by Strider Sports International, Inc.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, August 6th, from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, SD. The silent auction presents a rare opportunity for enthusiasts to own a unique piece of craftsmanship while supporting a great cause.

The proceeds from the auction will be provided to All Kids Bike, an organization dedicated to providing bikes and a curriculum for kindergartners across the United States, enabling them to learn and ride on two wheels.

“The Flying Piston Benefit is delighted to have Mitchell Tech join the Tiny Bike Custom Chop Off,” said Marilyn Stemp, Flying Piston Benefit co-producer. “Mitchell Technical College has a strong legacy of excellence in technical education, and we are excited to see the creativity and innovation their students will bring to this build.”

The Tiny Custom Bike Chop Off highlights six tech programs across the US, including Kevin “Teach” Baas’ Lakeville North High School; Pine Bush High School, Pine Bush, NY; Helping with Horsepower in Ethan, SD;  WyoTech, Laramie, WY; Mitchell Tech in Mitchell, SD; and the Jessi Combs Foundation.
