Our Friends in Colorado Kick-Off Build Team 13
Motorcycle Missions and Roys Toys Customs have come together to support veterans and 1st responders with a motorcycle build that assists with the lasting effects of PTSD.
A part of the Flying Piston Benefit donation goes to Motorcycle Missions, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation, helping Veterans and First Responders with PTS(D) to find healing through motorcycle therapy.
The team at Motorcycle Missions understands that much of the post-traumatic stress (disorder) paradigm is the need to find purpose, camaraderie, and adrenaline is important.
Krystal Hess is the Founder & Executive Director of Motorcycle Missions. She started her journey in Canada and moved to Austin, TX to learn to ride, build, and wrench on motorcycles.
“I had this big problem on my hands,” she said. “I had a motorcycle that I owned that was in a million pieces.” Rebuilding that motorcycle changed her life, and made her a true believer in the transformative power of two-wheeled machines. “I compare it to [the healing process] all the time,” said Krystal. Every part I put on the bike, I put back together a part of myself.”
Since then, Krystal has rebuilt several motorcycles, started a successful powder coating business, and founded Motorcycle Missions, a nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans with PTSD heal through motorcycles.
About Build Team 13
Roys Toys Customs, Motorcycle Missions, and State Farm Insurance – One of our supporters is Roys Toys Customs. They are the lead on Build Team 13 which is sponsored by State Farm Insurance.
This build isn’t just going to result in a beautiful motorcycle, but a transformation of hearts and minds. As Roy and Nikki Martin forge ahead on the build, they are laying the groundwork on the path toward post-traumatic growth with these Patriots.
Roy Martin is also adding the design of the custom with his B-Hive Bolt Covers.
