Meet the 2022 Flying Piston Benefit Tiny Strider Class
Zach Ness is a motorcycle designer, builder, entrepreneur, and reality television actor. He is the grandson of motorcycle custom king Arlen Ness, and son of Cory Ness. Like his father and grandfather before him, Zach carries on the company heritage. Zach is the first member of his family to participate and is a proud member of the 2022 Flying Piston Benefit Tiny Strider Class.
He is known to defy death by sometimes working on his own motorcycle, occasionally without adult supervision. He has built several choppers through the years while he saves money to someday buy a Bill Dodge or Billy Lane custom. And now he is taking his talent and applying it to a Strider Balance Bike for the Flying Piston Benefit Builder Breakfast in Sturgis, 2022.
Edge built a diorama using Marlon Brando and the “Wild One” as the theme. And used the Strider and a cut down Suzuki tank with a Triumph badge to represent the 650cc Triumph Thunderbird used in the movie.
He builds some of the nation’s most excellent custom scoots. And now he is taking his talent and applying it to a Strider Balance Bike for the Flying Piston Benefit. He created a Digger that was popular in the ’60s and ’70s.
His builds have appeared at Mama Tried, Cycle Showcase STL, Michael Lichter’s exhibitions at the Buffalo Chip (Passion Build, What’s the Skinny, Built for Speed), Fuel Cleveland, Detroit Antique Motorcycle (D.A.M.) show, and the Handbuilt Show. His bikes have been featured in Hot Bike, Hot Bike Japan, Cycle Source, Heavy Duty (Australia), Easyriders, and American Iron. The Drag Specialties Old Book (2020-2021) showcased his Panhead.
Arlin owns and operates one of the few original independent motorcycle shops that have held firm to their traditions over the decades—52 years in the same location in Denver Colorado.
A custom and chopper builder since 1970, Arlin’s bikes have been featured regularly in magazines in the USA and Europe and his shop is still the undisputed go-to location for owners of classic HD models.
