The Flying Piston Benefit Auction is back for 2025, and this year, we’re shining the spotlight on a master of custom craftsmanship—Roy Martin of Roys Toys Customs.
A Mini Masterpiece with Big Attitude
On Monday, March 3, 2025, the Flying Piston Benefit takes over Teddy Morse’s Daytona Harley-Davidson®, uniting top builders, industry icons, and motorcycle enthusiasts—all to support a great cause. One standout auction item this year is a custom Strider Balance Bike, originally built by Roy and Nikki Martin of Roys Toys Customs for the 2019 Sturgis Flying Piston Builder’s Breakfast.

Roy Martin of Roys Toys Customs
This one-of-a-kind mini custom comes straight from the private collection of Ryan McFarland, founder and CEO of Strider Bikes. But don’t be fooled by its size—this balance bike is a true work of art, featuring a hot rod paint job that demands attention, just like a full-sized custom build.
Meet the Builder: Roy Martin
Born and raised in Denver, CO, Roy Martin is a self-taught welder and fabricator with over 35 years in the custom car scene and 30 years in custom motorcycle building. In 1994, he founded Roys Toys Customs, a family-run business where his daughter Nikki Martin serves as CEO and custom builder, and his son Anthony Martin works as an apprentice builder.
Their award-winning creations have been featured in the Harley-Davidson Museum Pro Invitational, AIMExpo, and the Progressive IMS show circuit. Roy and Nikki also made history as participants in the first-ever ROT Rally Father/Daughter Build-Off and a veteran build show. Their passion extends beyond the shop, as they’ve mentored veterans through Motorcycle Missions and built a military-themed bike for Warrior Voices, a nonprofit providing voice-over training for veterans.
Roy’s journey into the world of mechanics began right out of high school, working in a machine shop where he balanced crankshafts, connecting rods, and pistons for race engines. That early experience laid the foundation for his precision and artistry in building custom motorcycles today.
